21st Century Waterfall:: Americans Discarding Plastic Bottles @ 840/second


Here is a computer animation made to raise awareness about bottled water, and its surprisingly poor recycling rates. For example, it is estimated that in 2005 alone approximately 30 billion plastic water bottles were purchased in the US, with only about 12% recycled.

Also, The Climate Action Network concludes that;

making plastic bottles requires almost the same energy input as making glass bottles, despite transport savings that stem from plastic’s light weight.
